Rajasthan to Implement Holographic Liquor Stamps and End-to-End Track and Trace

The Indian state of Rajasthan is implementing holographic tax stamps and an end-to-end traceability system on liquor products, to allow the state excise department to track and trace each bottle and case of liquor from distillery to warehouse, and warehouse to vendor.

Distilleries and breweries will be required to generate printed barcodes containing unique serial numbers and information such as batch numbers, manufacturing date and expiry date. Bottle readers will also be installed on production lines to monitor the exact number of bottles being produced.

The barcodes will be applied to each bottle and box and will be scanned before the product is dispatched to the wholesaler. The product will be transported on trucks affixed with an RFID tag, an electronic toll collection device which can also track the truck’s location.
