Pakistan Authorises Three Vendors for Beverage Production Monitoring
Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has authorised three technology providers to deploy electronic production monitoring systems across the country’s bottled water and packaged juice industries, marking another step in the expansion of its technology-based tax compliance programme.
The newly authorised vendors are ISSM Labelling Solutions, TolLink Pakistan and Authentik. According to the FBR, the companies were selected through a competitive authorisation process designed to ensure they possess the technical and operational capabilities required to implement the monitoring systems.
The systems must capture production in real time using video analytics and object-counting technology, transmitting production data directly to the FBR’s central control unit.
Required equipment includes industrial barcode scanners, counting sensors, IP cameras, programmable logic controllers and production monitoring software.
The move forms part of the FBR’s wider strategy to expand electronic production monitoring across multiple sectors. Similar production monitoring and track and trace systems are already operational in the cement, sugar, fertiliser and tobacco industries, where they have helped improve revenue assurance and reduce tax leakages. More recently, video analytics-based production monitoring has entered the implementation phase in Pakistan’s textile and tiles sectors.
